WELCOME TO THE AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY THE ADDITIONAL STRENGTH OF THE AMERICAN LEGION The american legion auxiliary has been around for over seventy-five years. If member were ask what the auxiliary does, here is what they would say. OUR PURPOSE: To defend and teach the principles of democracy To uphold the law of the land To foster patriotism To honor and serve our veterans To instill a sense of obligation to the community, state and nation To guard the basic freedoms of religion, expression and choice To support the work of the American Legion To continue our association with devotion of service to God and Country WHO CAN JOIN? YOU CAN JOIN THE AUXILIARY IF YOU ARE: The mother, wife, sister, daughter, granddaughter or great-granddaughter of a current member of THE AMERICAN LEGION A female veteran who served during any of the conflicts listed on the application form A member of THE AMERICAN LEGION (Yes, women veterans can join, in fact they can be members of both organizations) The mother, wife sister, daughter, granddaughter or great-granddaughter of a deceased veteran who served during any of the conflicts listed on the application form.
