Why not use a photo gallery or social networking site?

Solution A:  Proprietary web hosts, e.g. Google Sites or Tripod

Easy to start, "all in one" May put ads on your web pages May disappear (Do you remember GNN, GeoCities, or Yahoo My Web?) Technical limitations (space, tools, linking, scripting, can use only their templates, no style sheets)

Solution B:  Standards-based web hosts, e.g. PC Club's web server

No ads Retention, "automatic" backup Portable and convertible More tools available (e.g. FTP, HTML, style sheets, Javascript, PHP, Perl, Apache, server-side includes, SQL, Kompozer) "Some learning required"
