Objective

 To obtain a challenging position as a Systems Administrator where I can utilize my training and experience as an MCP+I and MCSE.  For the past six months I have been upgrading my NT 4.0 MCSE to 2000 and have over 800 hours of classroom instruction on the latest Microsoft Technologies by attending classes at Quickstart a Microsoft CTEC. I have taken Exchange 2000 design, Active Directory Design, SQL 2000 DBA, SQL 2000 Programming, Clustering on 2000 server, Domain Security on 2000 and several other Microsoft 2000 MCSE courses.

Sr. NT Systems Administrator  (Consultant)

§         Force10 networks was a fast paced startup with 300 employees, my projects consisted of Implementing and configuration of a Blackberry Wireless Application Protocol Gateway  (WAP)  (PRE Release) on Exchange 2000.  Working  with RSA Security support engineers, I Implemented and configured an RSA Secure ID Web Client (PRE Release) for Exchange 2000. This product adds a second layer of authentication to Outlook Web Access and improves Internet based Security.

§         Installed and configured a Windows 2000 Active Directory domain and performed a migration from Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2000 on our test system. I did not complete the installation on the production Exchange 5.5 server, do to a failed Dell RAID controller, downing first Exchange 2000 server in a site, as per Microsoft’s Support Engineer’s instructions using LDP tool , I was forced to remove the Exchange attributes and extensions in the LDAP Schema, which required an Active Directory Authoritative restore.

§         Mirapoint was a fast paced startup where I supported 300 IT customers. I Documented the network and server Infrastructure in a network Diagram, renamed the NT domain to Mirapoint to prepare it for Active Directory, Installed and configured HRMS for HR.

§         Supported the Cisco / Altiga VPN concentrator and participated in Cisco’s beta program for the latest release. Implemented the Wireless Avaya Network. Assisted the Director of IT with the implementation of Sales / Support Logix 2000. Installed and configured new Compaq ML-530 with 5304 ADG raid controller, DL-380 and ML-370 servers, Installed Windows 2000 server, configured Terminal Services with Citrix Metframe 1.8. Installed and configured Insight Manager. Supported the NT Infrastructure and created new images for desktop builds.

§         Taught on the weekends, Saturday and Sunday’s for 16 hours a week while working full time. My curriculum consisted of Windows 2000 professional, Windows 2000 server, Microsoft Exchange 5.5, Windows NT Workstation 4.0.,and I was responsible for creating my  syllabi, quizzes, finals, and grading.

§         Reviewed the City of San Jose’s IT master plan for the Mayor’s staff, proposed restructuring of the IT department and centralizing core IT services as well as implement a help desk database such as Remedy AR or Clarify to track trouble tickets and automate responses to internal IT customers.

§         Redesigning the look and feel of the site and I proposed to staff that I configure a list server for constituent subscription to email announcements and to secure posting’s sent out by the Mayor’s office and the City of San Jose.

Sr. NT Systems Administrator 

§         Supported the Small to Medium Business division (SMB) 700 IT customers as a level three Systems Administrator. Worked on NT server builds for the Gershwin Project team using NT server 4.0 Enterprise and Windows 2000 advance server, IIS 4.0 and 5.0, SQL 7.0 Enterprise Kings Server Project, Migrated 500 clients from an NT server to a NETAPP Filer.  First person to Document the Cisco NT Domain Trust‘s in a Visio diagram for all of ECS and its 180 trusting domains. 

§         Project team technical lead for Engineering Computer Services  (ECS) on the Calendar Team Project.  Installed and configured a CS&T / Steltor test calendar server on a HP LPR Server  (Xeon 4 way), and evaluated calendar functionality on Linux, MAC, Solaris and Windows  clients as  well as configured E-page notifications for meeting additions and reminder’s.

§         Aironet Wireless acquisition project in Akron , Ohio . Migrated Aironets NT domain and servers as a resource domain to the Cisco Engineering master domain.

§         Worked as a level three systems engineer and lead on the setup and implementation of the new division of Intel (IDS01).

§         Worked as a lead on NT server builds for E-Commerce hosting on NT server 4.0 enterprise, IIS 4.0, SQL 7.0 Enterprise and Site Server 3.0.   Assisted level 4 engineers with verification of build scripts and prototype E-commerce server builds.

§         Installed and configured Dell 6350  (Xeon 4 way) and Dell 4350  (Intel PIII 2 way) Servers, configured RAID 5 and 10 (0+1) drive arrays using a PERC2 (Adaptec 4 Channel) RAID controller. Trouble shot network connectivity issues, Database connectivity issues, IBM ADSM backup failures.

§         VA Research was a fast paced startup that grew from 20 people when I started to 200 employees at the time of my departure. I assisted the IT team at VaResearch with the company's network design and implementation during their relocation from their Mountain View facility to their current Sunnyvale location.

§         Implemented a Windows  4.0 Terminal server with Citrix Metaframe 1.0 for the finance department and configured Linux desktops using an ICA client allowing them to export Peachtree Accounting Software to their local desktops. Daily duties consited of  Linux desktop installs running Redhat 5.2 and NT Terminal server  support, backups and Samba integration issues.

Sr. Systems Administrator

§         Responsible for all IT support as the sole IT person in this fast paced startup supporting 50 engineers at corporate headquarters and remote sales offices. Documented the Network and server Infrastructure in a Network Diagram.

§         Implemented Clarify Front Office 98 and Clear Express, a customer support software package running on an Oracle 7.3.4 database. Implemented a new server for the finance and manufacturing group running Great Plains Dynamics 4.0 on Btrieve database engine.

§         Responsible for Sun Solaris Unix server and NT server support, Maintained the Apache and IIS Web server, Sendmail server  (SMTP, POP3, IMAP4), Unix based DNS servers and Sun NIS , IP’s allocation, backup’s for servers on Unix and NT, NFS, Samba, Synopsis Synthesis tools support. Installed and configured new Solaris X86, and Sparc workstations running 2.51, 2.6, version 7 OS.  Upgraded and or repaired hardware as needed. Upgraded the Cisco 2514 WAN router to Cisco Router IOS 11.2.

§         Implemented a  Windows Terminal server with Citrix Metaframe 1.0 and configured Unix and MAC clients with a Solaris ICA client allowing them to run PC applications from there desktops. Responsible for Remote Access support on the server and clients, upgraded server modems to v.90 and developed Web Based dial in procedures for IT customers. Implemented the company’s Internet access upgrade from ISDN to 1.1mb SDSL and web site relocation.

Global IT Operations as an NT / SMS Systems Administrator.

§         Global Operations NT server support in all of North America supporting 5000 IT customers. General IT support. Installed and configured Quota Manager 4.5 on all NT servers (about 35) in the North America domain configured automated SMTP notifications to clients for quota lockout messages. Upgraded Compaq 1500, 2500 and 6000 servers to 100mb NIC’s full duplex, expanded RAID arrays, increased installed server RAM.

§         Responsible for all server backups and restores using Backup Exec 6.11 Enterprise and later upgrading all servers to IBM ADSM 3.103 client on all 35 NT servers in the North America domain. Team technical representative during the SAP rollout for NT server support.

Assigned to the SSD Division of IBM as an NT / Lotus Notes Systems Administrator.

§         Technical lead on the Citrix Winframe 1.6 and 1.7 server rollout. Installed, configured and managed 20 new NT 4.0 servers running Lotus Notes Domino 4.52 and 4.6, on IBM PC 320, 330, 520 and 704 using 2 way and 4 way symmetrical processing (SMP).  Servers  with IBM PC server RAID controllers.

§         Developed build process and documentation for all new NT servers. ITCS 201 and 301 security procedures. Implemented  the master WINS server for the SSD division.

Assigned to the LSI LOGIC account as an NT Systems Administrator: Jan 97 - Sept 97

§         NT server support. Maintained 34 NT servers throughout the North America Domain for LSI Logic using SMS 1.2 for remote administration. Created and managed all new NT user accounts during the Windows 95 Roll out, created and managed shares and group permissions for 2,000 NT users, managed trust relationships between the North America , European and the Asia Domain.

§         Troubleshoot Network connectivity and logon problems for customers. Managed the DHCP, WINS and Docs Open for the legal dept., running on a SQL 6.5 backend. Installed and configured network printers,  (HP, QMS, Xerox and Tektronix’s), using TCP/IP, AppleTalk, and LPD. Configured servers for Mac file and print services.

§         Maintained and upgraded hardware on Compaq 1500 Proliant servers running smart RAID array controllers as raid 5. Managed disk space quota for users on NT shares with Quota Manager 2.1c for NT. Responsible for the full and Incremental tape backup's of all local and remote NT servers using Backup Exec 6.1 on to a central Compaq 6 DLT tape unit server. Configured NT servers for FTP, to automate data transfer from the MVS Main Frame too finance and payroll department shares. Installed and configured a test Intranet Web server running NT 4.0, Internet Information Server 3.0 with Web based administration.

§         Migrated the tax, legal, payroll, finance and facility engineering departments, from NetWare 3.11 and 4.1 to NT 3.51 servers. Created and Managed user accounts on NetWare 3.11 and 4.1.

§         Stratacom Acquisition project, migrated customers from  “First Class” mail servers to POP3 mail servers, installed Eudora Pro 3.0 on PC and MAC clients, configured, POP 3, SMTP, and instructed users on the use of Eudora Pro for Mac’s, Win 3.11, Win 95 and NT 3.51 workstations.

§         Cisco Systems, Tasman Campus, trouble shot and repaired e-mail server time-outs on clients, installed and configured new Workstations for end users, using WINS, DNS, DHCP, and TCP/IP. 

§         Data migration project, retrieved data from clients NT server’s to Windows 95 clients, corrected shortcuts, paths, installed backup application and scheduled automatic data backup from clients to their NT server’s home directories.

Implemented an NT Web Server, with IMAIL as a list server, later upgraded the server to Redhat Linux 7.1, installed a Cobalt Cube for the Region One web server and Installed and compiled SSH. Member of the NTCC 2000 committee. I was also involved with NET DAY 2, at the Franklin McKinley School District (1996) and NET DAY 3, NET DAY 4, (1997).
