17 Jan 2017

Notice to all IBM Midpensinsula PC Club Members:

At our meeting on January 17, 2017, our presentation topic was Personal Assistance Devices and we highlighted the capabilities and demonstrated two of the most popular ones available today – the Amazon Echo and the Google Home. The presentation slides are on our here:
Web Site: http://www.sjpc.org/mppcclub/

The members present also discussed some important issues concerning our club and how to schedule future meetings.

  1. The officers elected in 2016 were held over for 2017.
  2. Club dues will be waived for 2017.
  3. Regular Club meetings will be scheduled on a semi-annual basis, and other gatherings of the club will be scheduled when events dictate.
  4. IBM has a new policy that has distanced itself from informal clubs like ours – dictating that we find non-IBM locations for our meeting and therefore eliminating our connection with an IBM Management Advisor.
  5. Peter Hirsch and George Kornbluth will team up to develop presentation topics and will encourage our members to both come up with topics as well participate in presentations.
  6. John Matthews who was instrumental in helping us get a very nice facility in which we can present will also investigate functions available to our members at the VMSC (Veterans Memorial Senior Center) in Redwood City.
  7. Our next semi-annual meeting will be scheduled will be scheduled mid-year 2017.

Please don’t hesitate to communicate with your Club officers with your suggestions.
Thank you.

January 2017

To all members of the Mid-Peninsula IBM PC Club:

As we have communicated in previous notes, the IBM facility on First Street in San Jose will no longer be available to us for our meetings. IBM is moving out of that facility. One of our members, John Matthews, has been successful in making arrangements for us to meet in
Redwood City at the VMSC (Veterans Memorial Senior Center),
1455 Madison Avenue, Redwood City, CA.

Members at our last meeting discussed and then voted to have our meetings quarterly, rather than continue with the challenges we’ve had with new topics on a monthly basis. Also, the current slate of officers was elected for the new year by a unanimous vote.

Our next meeting of the Mid-Peninsula IBM PC Club will be full of 17s -- on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at 1717h (that’s 5:17 PM) at the VMSC .

Mark your calendar and let’s have a great turnout for the new year in our new location.

We will send out a reminder as usual the week before with the agenda for the meeting and directions to VMSC in Redwood City.
